The Story of Our Safe Haven Christmas EP

Earlier this year we took a group of key employees to Nashville for strategic planning meetings. As is our custom, we always try to mix in some unique activities with our work on these trips. One idea that everyone seemed to like, was attending a live studio recording session and getting to see how an actual record is made. But how could we get everyone into a recording session? This is where the idea of the Safe Haven Christmas EP was born.

Having spent several years in the music business in Nashville, first as a singer/songwriter and later as an artist and record label manager, I still maintained a lot of relationships. I reached out to my Grammy winning producer/engineer friend Mark Lambert and explained we were wanting to do a studio session that could be attended by our employees; and maybe even use the project as part of a holiday greeting card for our company.

After several weeks of coordination and juggling schedules Mark put together an incredible band for our Safe Haven Christmas EP. All of the musicians were incredibly gracious. It was a great learning experience for our Safe Haven team. It’s not often a person gets the opportunity to watch the world’s best at something, doing their work up close and personal. Team Safe Haven definitely learned by watching the commitment the world’s greatest musicians have to always giving their very best effort. Every little detail matters. We will carry that lesson forward with our own work in the coming year. If you’re a big music fan, take a moment and do a web search on the musicians appearing on the album.

As for the songs, we hope you enjoy them. I never thought I would be back in a studio again as a singer. It was a real joy and privilege to do this project. 100% of any proceeds generated from streaming or purchase will be donated to Veterans Community Project.

Happy Holidays,

Lance Combs
